Original Jaeger Rifles

Due to age and health issues, I’m no longer able to compete or hunt with rifles. So I am selling my two original Jaeger rifles that I’ve owned for over 35 years. Both of these rifles are in exceptionally nice, unrestored condition with bright shiny bores. The stocks are solid with neither cracks nor rot and the locks and double-set triggers are in as-new condition. The nipples on both have been replaced with Treso nipples for safety and faster ignition. Both rifles have their original rear flip-up express sights.

As you folks know, it’s difficult to find rifles from the 1830 era in this condition. I’ve priced each of them very reasonably in the range that it would cost to buy a quality custom-built replica. Unlike replicas, these historical firearms will appreciate in value.

Each rifle comes with the correct size mold, patches, balls, and loading information I’ve used. In past years, I’ve supplied firearms to our International Muzzleloading Shooting Team at Friendship. Team members require firearms in top notch condition and only buy from individuals who know muzzleloaders.

I can honestly say that for shooting under 300 yards with open sights, the .70 cal Jaeger is the tightest-group shooting muzzleloading rifle I’ve ever owned. I have put it up against an original Whitworth and other quality European/English sporting rifles I’ve owned… I’ve always believed in the old saying, “Beware of the guy who only shoots one gun.” 🙂

The .58 cal. Jaeger is a little more ornate and the bore is in equally superb condition and should be a tack driver, but I have not shot it as much.

Call if interested in seeing the rifles, I will e-mail more detailed photos to serious buyers.

Thanks,
